Hi my lovlies, I am back with another list of my beauty faves this month. These are the things that I have been particularly loving and reaching for on a daily basis. Link to my full You Tube August Favourites video is at the end of this post.
You may or may not know that I am OBSESSED with natural and organic skin care products. So my first favourite this month has been this Antipodes Hosanna Intensive Skin-Plumping H20 serum which I just love. The consistency is slightly thicker and cloudier in colour than other serums you may know of, but that doesn’t affect the magic of this serum which is water based. It leaves my skin feeling so soft, so smooth and hydrated which is perfect when it comes to applying my makeup the next day. I like to use this serum in the evening after I have cleansed, toned and taken my makeup off from the day. I like the fact that the dropper is a pipette which reduces any wastage and you have control over how much you’d like to apply. I am so clumsy and tend to pour too much out of the serum bottles, so a dropper is really good for me. Do you have the same problem ever? I have noticed that some pores in the centre of my face have shrunk and I believe it is due to this serum.
“A water-charged and oil-free bioactive serum that immediately quenches thirsty skin and helps intensively improve skin appearance over time. Revolutionary Vinanza Grape® antioxidant keeps skin super-hydrated and protected from the damage caused by environmental aggressors and pollutants. Mamaku black fern helps foster healthy cell renewal. ” – Antipodesnature.us
If your skin is in need of a moisture boost and you are after something that you can really see working then I recommend you give this serum a go. It’s 100% organic so you know you are only using natural goodness on your skin. I purchased mine for £25 and it does last a long time, especially as you only need about 3 drops. I will definitely be repurchasing another bottle of this stuff once I am finished.
Next up I have been loving the Liz Earle Super Skin Eye Cream as a base for my under eye area before I apply concealer in the mornings. I do tend to suffer from dry under eyes, so anything that can give me a boost of moisture under the eyes is a winner. I usually dab some of this eye cream around my eye area and blend it in using my ring finger very softly. I find that this “Super Skin” range from Liz Earle is quite rich, in fact too rich to use on my face area. I have tried the moisturiser in this range, which has rosehip oil and neroli oils to nourish the skin, but I find my skin becomes excessively oily the next day. This range is definitely aimed towards more mature, very dry skin types that need extra moisture. I now use the moisturiser as a body cream after a shower and it works wonders to make my skin so smooth and soft. Have you tried this eye cream, or any other Liz Earle products? What do you think?
Next on my favourites list for this month is the Diorblush Light & Contour Stick which I have been using literally every day as my contour shade. Its a really nice cool toned brown shade which is ideal for medium to dark skin tones – asian skin tones especially. I also like the highlighter in this duo stick, which is surprising. Usually I find the highlighters either too shimmery or just too gold in colour for a highlight. But this duo is perfect in both. the consistency of the contour and highlight is creamy which definitely helps when it comes to blending them out. I use both the contour and highlight straight from the stick and apply it onto my face on the areas below.
I recently went to Dubai and took this duo stick away with me. It’s great for travelling because its so compact – I definitely recommend you give this a try if you are looking for a new contour and highlighter product in one.
Next I have been loving the Giorgio Armani Master Corrector in Peach. Although this has great coverage, the brush is so fine that you really have to use a number of strokes to get any coverage under the eyes. I like to concentrate this mainly on the inner corners of my under eyes – as thats where I can notice the blue toned bags – and then l like to blend it out with a beauty blender before I go in with my under eye concealer.
This concealer is on the pricey side at around £27 and I would say that unless you are particularly into high end cosmetics, you can find a similar corrector for half the price. However if you do like the more expensive side of cosmetics – like me – then this is one to definitely try. If you have given this one a go, let me know what you think.
Next up I have been using this YSL Ombre Lumieres Palette literally every day this week. In the pan it does look quite glittery, but when you apply the colours onto your eyelids, they don’t appear shimmery at all. I particularly love the peach tone which I have been using as a transition shade all the time. It’s that perfect peachy brown tone which suits all Asian / darker skin tones. I then like to use the dark brown in my crease to add more depth.
This palette is so versatile you can use it to create either dramatic, smoky, sexy looks or you can use it to create something light and wearable everyday. The shadows are so soft and highly pigmented that a little definitely goes a long way. YSL have a number of these palettes in the Ombre Collection and I actually love them all, but this is definitely one that stands out of the collection for me.
If luxury high end cosmetics is your thing then you are going to love this one. Selfridges London have opened a new Louboutin lipstick and polish range in their beauty hall and I just had to get my hands on this one. Its the Louboutin Tutulle 700 Silky Satin Lip Colour and it just the perfect nudey pink lipstick shade I love. This is a seriously luxurious lipstick which comes with a very long organza strap so you can wear the lipstick round your neck and re-apply when needed. The other point to mention about this lipstick is that it is quite heavy.
I really noticed a difference holding this lipstick compared to one say from Dior which was not heavy at all. The packaging of this lipstick is again – luxurious. It comes in its own patent black box which has a velvet red interior – classic Louboutin colours.
Finally on to my last obsession this month and it has been a perfume from Liz Earle called Botanical Essence no. 15. This is the first perfume I have tried from Liz Earle and as soon as I smelt it I fell in love. This perfume is on the musk side with a hint of Indian sandalwood and damask rose – which is just what I love as well as a and clean vanilla undertone. It is just out of this world amazing and definitely one of my all time favourite perfumes. If you manage to get hold of this perfume or smell it, please please let me know what you think because I am seriously obsessed at the moment!
Price wise this perfume was £50 which is reasonable for what it is I think – amazing! The ingredients are “90% derived from sustainably soured natural ingredients” (uk.lizearle.com) which is an added bonus and the scent lasts ages. I kid you not I apply this in the morning and can smell it all day, which is so good. I definitely recommend you get your hands on this perfume if you like oud scents. The Botanical Essence range does have a number of other perfumes, but for me this is the best one by far.
So that concludes my favourites for this month. Let me know in the comments below which products you have been loving recently and whether you recommend anything in particular, I will definitely check them out.
