Review: Estee Lauder Micro Essence Lotion

Review of the Estee Lauder Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion

As soon as I saw this guys, I had to try it out!  I LOVE anything Estee Lauder straight up, and have previously tried their Day Wear Oil Free Face Cream and the staple Advance Night Repair Serum from the skin care range, which I equally loved.  I was advised by the Estee Lauder assistant to use this lotion with the Advanced Night Repair (ANR) Serum for maximum effect – A marketing ploy, or fact? I had just run out of my ANR and bought a different branded serum to try out in its place a few days back, so I thought I’d stick with that one to really assess the results.

Estee Lauder is a premium brand and you definitely get the quality pay for here. I paid £48 for the Micro Essence Lotion, which is a 75ml bottle and it does last a long time. I have been using it religiously everyday for the last 3 weeks and I still have literally a full bottle left. I like to use the Micro Essence Lotion after I have cleansed my face and taken off my makeup in the evening. I put 4 – 5 drops of the lotion on to a cotton pad and dab it over my skin to really work it in and then add my serum. It helps to remove any left over makeup residue and leaves my skin feeling really clean and soft.

The consistency of this lotion is gel-like.and very lightweight and there is no obvious scent to it which is great. The bottle looks so elegant with frosted glass as the main body and a shiny vibrant gold screw-on lid on top. It claims to “strengthen the skins foundation to reveal a youthful angelic glow” and “replenish and rebalance the skin’s appearance” (Estee, I definitely noticed my skin was a lot more smoother the day after I started to use this lotion and the enlarged pores that I had in the middle of my face were reduced slightly, but not completely gone.

The Verdict:

Although I love Estee Lauder I would honestly say that this Micro Essence isn’t a product that completely wowed me in comparison to some of their other skin care products. It’s a good toner – which in essence (pardon the pun) is what it really is, but for the price tag I would have liked to see it do more for my skin.

Pro’s: Elegantly packaged and beautiful to look at. A lighter gel texture which is cooling on the skin, perfect after cleansing. The product lasts a long time. Overall improved skin texture noticed after first night of use.

Cons: Even though the packaging is beautiful, it’s definitely not one to take travelling with you. Along with the glass bottle the size of the smallest bottle (75ml) is still quite big and blocky, so it would be a nightmare to pack for these reasons. The fact that this lotion comes with a screw top lid means it’s not an on-the-go product. I personally prefer the lift up lids for easy use and less spillage. Let me know what you prefer below.

So the verdict is there are other toners / lotions out there that can do same for a lower price tag I did like this product and will be finishing my bottle.
